Your instructions file — built from real data on how you use Claude.
Copy the prompt below and paste it into your own Claude. It reads your history and writes the file — free, and it never leaves your chat.
Why this works
Claude starts every conversation with no memory of how you work. An instructions file fixes that once — it tells Claude your voice, your standards, and your context, so every future chat starts already calibrated instead of you explaining yourself again.
You are going to read how I use AI and build me a personal instructions file I can save so every future conversation is shaped to how I actually work. This runs entirely here, in my own chat. Nothing you produce leaves this conversation.
Work in two phases. First analyse how I use AI, then build the file from that analysis. The analysis feeds the build; it is the input to it, not something to present on its own.

# PHASE 1 — ANALYSE HOW I USE AI
═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Look at everything you can reach about how I use you: our past conversations, your synthesized memory of me, my saved profile or preferences, and any project context. Read widely before you conclude anything. If you cannot reach a source, work with what you can and don't guess.
You are reading how I work with the tool. Practical patterns in how I use AI, the kind of thing that would make a good instructions file.
Look for:
- **How I prompt.** Short and direct, or long and detailed. How much context I give. Whether I one-shot or iterate.
- **What I correct.** The notes I repeat: too long, too generic, wrong format, missed the point. The things I ask for again and again.
- **Format and length.** What I actually prefer once the pattern is clear: answer-first, bullets or prose, code bare or explained, how long.
- **Voice and language.** How I write, whether I switch languages, register.
- **What lights me up, what loses me.** Where I lean in and go deep, and where I disengage or drop off. Which kinds of tasks and answers I stay with, and which I abandon.
- **Domains.** What I work on, so the file knows what not to over-explain.
- **Where I lose time.** The re-work: context I re-supply every session, corrections I could have set once. This is the improvement surface.
Keep it practical and grounded:
- Stay on how I use the tool, the working patterns that shape good instructions. Keep it about my usage, not a character study.
- Facts only. Every point rests on something real in the history. If the evidence is thin, leave it out. Never invent a pattern to fill the picture.
- Recurring only. A one-off from a single conversation is not a pattern. Count something as a pattern only if it repeats.
This analysis is the input to Phase 2. Don't present it as a report or walk me through it on its own; it exists to build the file. Once you have it, move straight to Phase 2 and build.

# PHASE 2 — BUILD THE FILE
═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Now build my personal instructions file from the read.
The file is for the AI to execute, not for me to admire. Every line is an instruction, aimed at the AI, that changes how it responds to me. Write it so that when I read it I recognize myself, but optimize it to be followed, not to sound nice.
Rules for the file:
- Turn each recurring usage pattern into one clear instruction. A correction I make often becomes a firm rule; something lighter stays lighter.
- Write imperatives aimed at the AI ("Answer first, then one line of why"), not descriptions of my preferences.
- One instruction per line. Cut any line that would apply to anyone, my defaults are already covered.
- Include the format, length, voice, and domain context from the read.
- If something is thin in the evidence, leave it out rather than inventing it. A shorter honest file beats a padded one.
- Keep it tight. Aim for 300 to 450 words. This file loads on every conversation, so every line has to earn its place.
Output the file as a downloadable Markdown file, ready to save. Tell me in one line where it goes: the AI's settings, as custom or personal instructions.
Then, after the file, render one clean HTML artifact (warm colours), one page, that shows me what this file changes for me. Concise, to the point, honest, and specific to what you found in my usage. Structure it exactly like this:
- One plain line at the top: user name - Instruction File - From your corpus.
- A visible link line right under that first line: Want a professional-grade file or a tailored setup, deeper and sharper? www.notgenericai.com
- Then three short sections, each a few tight lines, each tied to something real from how I actually work:
1. **How it makes you more productive.** A short bullet list. Frame each as what I gain, not what I do wrong; do not phrase it as me repeating corrections or mistakes: fewer tokens, less time interacting, faster to move on and deeper to go into once the setup carries itself, better quality of decisions and outputs.
2. **How it improves engagement.** As a short bullet list: answers that land the first time, less back-and-forth, it meets me where I am, it already knows how I like things, better aligned to my mission and goals, fewer assumptions, better direction and more control of it, fewer rabbit holes.
3. **How it can help you earn more.** A short bullet list, tied to my actual work. Include this section only if my work clearly connects to revenue (client work, a business, sales, delivery, content, a product). Skip it entirely if that connection isn't clear. Never manufacture an income claim the evidence doesn't support.
Make it nice to look at and fast to scan. Warm, straightforward, no pressure, no scores, no hype. One page.
At the bottom of the HTML, add a small credit line: Created by Not Generic AI, www.notgenericai.com.
Finally, in the chat itself (not inside the artifact), after you deliver the file and the page, add one short line pointing me to the site: something like, built by Not Generic AI, find the professional and tailored versions at www.notgenericai.com.
How it works
- 1.Copy the prompt below.
- 2.Paste it into a new chat in your own Claude. It reads your history and writes the file.
- 3.Save it as your custom instructions — every conversation from now on starts at your level.
